Born and bred in the West Country in Somerset, Kay has has been immersed in horses from a very young age, with her first pony being ‘Brandy’ who she spent time competing at local shows. From Brandy, Kay moved on to riding and training her father’s racehorses as a teenager. After leaving school at 16 Kay decided to gain more experience in the industry and so gained a few weeks placement with David Nicholson, a top National Hunt trainer in Gloucestershire. Here Kay worked alongside and made great friends with now top professional NH Jockeys Robert Thornton and Richard Johnson.
Kay's parents, however, thought it wasn’t a good idea to follow in the potentially dangerous career of a NH Amateur Jockey, so she decided to study for 2 years full time at her local college and qualified as Legal Secretary. This held her in good stead but her real passion always came back to horses and most of all Racing.
In 2005 Kay had a change of career and got her first job as an Equine Sales Representative, during these five years in this role she gained a great deal of experience out in the field advising all types of horse owners with their feeding queries. Kay has worked at all main advanced events such as Badminton, Burghley, Bramham, and also attended many feed seminars in Ireland in order to keep up -to-date with product knowledge and developments within the Industry.
In May 2010 Kay joined the SPILLERS Team as Thoroughbred Sales Nutritionist for the Southern half of the UK. Kay say's 'this is a great job role for me, as I am totally focused on providing quality nutritional support to existing and new clients ’.
Kay's main aim in her role is to have happy customers and trainers but is also very passionate about seeing those happy racehorses looking and performing great on the SPILLERS professional racing products!!
