The festive season is well and truly upon us and whilst we wrap up some horse treats for our four-legged friends, we’ve caught up with seven professional riders to find out how they will be spending the holiday period and what gift they’d most like to find under the tree on Christmas day…
Tim Stockdale, International & Olympic Show Jumper
Holiday activities: Skiing in the French Alps for a week in February – a great activity to do with the kids.
Ideal Christmas gift: A new trolley for my golf clubs – I’m a very bad but keen golfer!
James Fisher, International Show Jumper
Holiday activities: Christmas Day and Boxing Day are about doing horsey stuff but my wife Lena is from Sweden so we usually spend time in Gothenburg after Christmas. We will go ice skating and hopefully skiing this year too as Emily and Freddie (our children) are just about old enough.
Ideal Christmas gift: I always like getting clothes. The children love to joke about giving me socks and pants!
Jodie Amos, 4*Event Rider
Holiday activities: I love a hot holiday during the winter. A perfect combination of sunshine, relaxing and travelling.
Ideal Christmas gift: I would love a new Mac Book Pro. Mine has almost given up, freezing within minutes. That or a new pair of Parlenti riding boots – or a horse solarium for the yard!
Althea Bleekman, 3* Event Rider
Holiday activities: Cooking or watching Channel 4 racing.
Ideal Christmas gift: A new 4* horse. Or a lorry!
Janou Bleekman, 3* Event Rider
Holiday activities: Sleeping and having a duvet and movie day.
Ideal Christmas gift: A Ferrari California T!
Jeanette Brakewell, 4*, International & Olympic Event Rider
Holiday activities: The staff have Christmas Day and Boxing Day so I’ll be mucking out and eating lots! I always take a week off at the end of the season and normally go on a cheap package holiday but this year it will be Abersoch with the dog.
Ideal Christmas gift: I’d love a coaching headset so I could talk to riders while I’m teaching.

Andrew James, 4*, International Event Rider
Holiday activities: Hopefully having a quiet moment! I seem to be spending a lot of time travelling up and down the country looking at young horses.
Ideal Christmas gift: We are building a new yard so I would love a set of mirrors for the school. Or a holiday!
