FAQs

Why has my horse suddenly become a fussy eater?
A sudden drop in appetite should always be investigated. It could be down to dental issues (like sharp edges or loose teeth), gastric ulcers, physical discomfort, or stress from a change in routine. We always recommend having your horse's teeth checked by a qualified equine dental technician or book a visit from your vet to rule out any underlying health concerns first.
Why are cubes often recommended over mixes for picky horses?
Cubes often have a smaller meal size which means they’re more appealing to those who don’t eat big volumes. Because every cube is identical, it also prevents your horse from selectively sorting out the "tasty" bits, ensuring they receive a fully balanced diet with every mouthful.
My horse hates powders. How can I feed supplements without putting them off?
Picky horses are highly sensitive to strong-smelling powders, particularly when there’s a lot of it. Instead, switch to SPILLERS tasty pelleted supplement range. The palatable pellets can even be fed by hand, meaning even the fussiest horses tuck in without realising they are eating a supplement!
Can I safely add fruit to my horse's bucket?
Yes, in moderation! Grated apples, carrots and bananas are often quickly devoured. However, remember to do your homework to avoid natural nasties: never feed fresh cherries to your horse, as cherry pits contain cyanogenic compounds which are highly poisonous to them.
