How do I choose which balancer is best for my horse?
Every horse is an individual which is why we have a comprehensive range of balancers to suit varying needs. Use our Interactive Decision Tree(open in new tab) to help you select the best balancer for your horse or call our Care-Line for help tailoring your horse’s diet (see below).
Are SPILLERS balancers suitable to feed a laminitic?
All SPILLERS balancers are low in calories, sugar and starch making them suitable for laminitics. If your horse is severely insulin dysregulated, we recommend you speak to us in person via our Care-Line (see below).
How much forage should I feed my good doer?
Horses and ponies should be fed a minimum of 1.5% of their bodyweight in forage in dry matter - this includes grazing. If your horse is stabled 24/7 this means weighing out 9kgs of hay for a 500kg horse or 4.5kgs for a 250kg pony. Check out our Slimmers hub(open in new tab) for more information on managing a good doer.
Will balancers make my horse fizzy?
Due to the small amounts of balancer fed each day they provide minimal amounts of sugar, starch and energy meaning they are very unlikely to cause excitability.
